  Rev. Daniel Clark, Pastor

            dan.wrpc@charter.net

Dan came to Waverly Road Presbyterian Church in 2002.  Before that time, he had pastored churches in several areas of the country, including Missouri, Kentucky, Virginia and Indiana.  He has been in ministry for 28 years.

Dan grew up in Sussex, NJ and attended college at Texas Christian University where he met his wife of 33 years, Jean.  After finishing his undergraduate degree, Dan went directly into the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity degree in 1977.  In 1990 he received  his Doctorate of Ministry from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.  The title of his major project was "An Evaluation of the Hermeneutic and Style of Frederick Buechner."

Dan and Jean have three adult children, Amy, Kristy and Adam and two grandsons, Hank and Buck.  Since the children live in different parts of the country, Dan and Jean travel often.  They also have two four-legged family members, as Australian Shepherd/Brittany Spaniel mix named Mandy and an English Springer Spaniel named Eli.

Dan is an avid sports fan, as you will quickly learn after hearing one of his sermons, and also enjoys traveling.  He has been to several Central and South American countries (Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Bolivia, and  Columbia), Cuba, and Malawi in South Africa.  While traveling, Dan has preached at the Mulanje Mission Church in Malawi, Africa and at the First Presbyterian Church in Havana, Cuba.

Dan's favorite books are The Sacred Journey and The Final Beast by Frederick Buechner, The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene and Freedom Road by Howard Fast.

If there is one verse in the Bible that Dan would choose to describe the mission of the followers of Jesus it is Luke 9:2, "Jesus sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal."

Ike Brighton, Associate Pastor, Christian Education

            ike.wrpc@charter.net

Ike was born in Norman, Oklahoma and grew up in Tulsa.  He attended the University of Oklahoma and received a degree in Business and Marketing.  While at college, he met his wife, Gini.

After Ike’s undergraduate college career, he began a time of service with the US Marine Corps.  During his 5 ˝ year tour of service, he completed flight school to become a Radar Intercept Officer (RIO) for an F-4 Phantom, participated in a tour to Vietnam and Cambodia and was honorably discharged.

Following this period of enlistment, Ike entered into a series of jobs.  He worked as a farmer, YMCA director, and steel mill employee.  Then, after all the children and Gini had been through graduate school, Ike decided to enter seminary.

Ike was a “seminary gypsy.”  He attended Memphis Theological Seminary, Columbia Theological Seminary and Union/PSCE Presbyterian Seminary in Christian Education, where he graduated with a Master of Arts in Christian Education.  Ike then continued on to complete his certificate in Christian Education and finished his ordination exams in July 2005 to become a Minister of Word and Sacrament.  Ike came to Waverly Road Presbyterian Church in November of 2005.

Ike and Gini have three children, Dusty, Holly and Darby, and three grandchildren, Mary Helen, Rhett, and Blakely.  They also have two four-legged family members, Martin and Dimah.  In his spare time, Ike enjoys officiating soccer and attending sporting events.
