Remembering Beattyville Mission Trip

The words above Miss Dora's kitchen expresses the way she lives. What a great hostess!
"One of my favorite memories is spending time with the young people and getting to know them. Also, this past year, I loved getting to know Chris, our summer intern, and watching the wonderful way he related to everyone from the 10-year-olds to the 80-year-olds. It was a great learning experience for him, I am sure, and a joy for us! It is always a joy to be with Miss Dora and see how she lives her faith."--Debby C.

"Both trips to Beattyville have been rewarding in many ways, bet the best part has been the interaction between the adults and the youth. I think we have gained so much from one another as we worked side by side; whether we were painting, building a deck, cleaning a mobile home, organizing yard sale items or cooking dinner for the group."--Carol P.

In the little chapel, we gathered for devotions every night.
Yum--Blueberry pancakes for breakfast!
"One of the neatest things that happened to me was that after I had sat down to dinner with the 'mature adults' one evening, one of the young people asked me if I would come and eat with them. That helped me to realize that they felt a connection to me, as I did with them, as a result of our time together there." --Bob A.

The end of the trip, but the beginning of shared memories and deepened friendships!
"A favorite memory of mine is the prayer circle we formed just before we left Beattyville. All the youth and adults joined hands and prayed for the family that would live in the home we had worked on. The physical, emotional and spiritual connection I felt was wonderful." --Martha L.
