Middle School Youth

Sunday Mornings,
9:45 to 10:45am
On Sunday Morning, our Middle School Youth can be found on the Second Floor of our Education Wing, doing anything but sitting down listening to a lecture! Led by two able-bodied and youth minded volunteers, this class utilizes curriculum from Feasting on the Word, designed to familiarize the learners with the Bible lesson for the day. These youth use arts, drama, games, and discussion in an attempt to understand God's word for their lives today and become famliar with Biblical teachings.
Wednesday Evenings, 6:15 to 7:15pm
Wednesday Evenings provide a different environment for the youth. Tired from a long day at school, this class is intentionally more laid-back and relxed in its style. While volunteers and staff lead these students through learning about the Bible, like learning the order and names of New Testament Books, the leaders seek to develop relationships with and among the group. The Middle School Youth learn about God and God's word, but also about themselves and each other. This group meets in the Fellowship Hall prior to 6:15pm.
Sunday Evenings, 5:30to 7:00pm
The Name of the Game Sunday Evening is Variety! Our youth meet every Sunday night under the guidance of Staff and Volunteers. Some weeks, a topical discussion is introduction, like "White Lies and Half-truths: Is it ever ok to lie?" or learning about God's view of War. Other weeks, the youth visit church shut-ins, lead worship at Baysmont (a local nursing home) or do other mission work. Still other tims, it's a fun and games night. All in all, there is something for everyone here.
High School Youth
Sunday Mornings, 9:45 to 10:45am
On Sunday Morning, our High School Youth can be found across the street at WATeR, our youth building. This class utilizes volunteers and two teachers, one and Adult and one a Youth, based on curriculum from Feasting on the Word, designed to familiarize the learners with the Bible lesson for the day. Our goal for the youth in this class is to help them prepare for life "in the real world", therefore it is intentionally inter-generational. The youth and adults learn from each other's life experiences helping the adults get a view into High School life, but also equipping our High School students for the "what happens next" in their faith and life.

Wednesay Evenings, 6:15 to 7:15pm
Wednesday Evenings provide a different environment for the youth. This group meets in the Fellowship Hall prior to 6:15pm, and then travels across the road to our Youth Center at WATeR. There we discuss the issues prevelant in high school life, looking at stories from the Bible to help guide our discussions. How is the cafeteria like what the Apostle Peter experienced in Jerusalem after Christ's Death? That's what we discuss on Wednesday night!

Mission Trips
Senior High: Navajo Nation, AZ
June 3-10, 2012 Grades 10-graduates
Serving the Navajo people on their reservation in Cedar Springs, Arizona will put your youth in the middle of a completely different culture through ministering to people with great needs in an area with a unique way of life. During this teen mission trip, your youth will work to improve local ministry facilities, build new homes and bring homes back to livable conditions. In addition to hands-on projects, groups will have the opportunity to spend time with parents and children on the reservation for outreach through recreation, music and programs. The experience of ministry and Christian service within the Native American culture leaves a lasting impact on all involved.

Middle School: Myrtle Beach, SC
July 22-28, 2012 Grades 7-9
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is a tourist hot spot. However, just a few miles up the coast there is great need, which makes it an ideal location for mission trips for teens. Due to the economic recession and the loss of hundreds of jobs, there are numerous families who struggle to meet their daily needs. These families have no extra income to make necessary repairs on the houses they live in. There are also many elderly people who do not have the funds or the physical endurance to fix the disrepair on their homes. The opportunity to reach out in Christian love and offer hope is immense. Our mission trips for teens to this area provide much needed assistance to the people of this community by taking on different construction projects, such as painting, constructing wheelchair ramps, and general maintenance.
